چکیده

Palaeoradiology is increasingly being used in archaeological and forensic sciences as a minimally invasive alternative to traditional histological methods for investigating bone microanatomy its destruction by diagenetic processes. To better understand ancient mortuary practices, taphonomic studies using microCT scanning are gaining an ever more important role. Recently it was demonstrated that 2D virtual sections obtained of intact samples comparable physical the rating diagnosis bioerosion bone. Importantly, volume image data from tomographic also allow rendering analysis 3D models. Building on these we provide (1) detailed descriptions renderings, sections, micrographs, (2) accessible techniques visualization skeletal samples. The dataset based twenty-eight cortical samples, including twenty femora (of which five cremated), two ribs, parietals, one mandibular ramus, humerus, faunal long bones sites Lower Austria dating Early Neolithic Late Iron Age. Notably, reduce need time-consuming segmentation sequentially applying noise-reducing, edge-preserving filters, image-display transfer function visualizes bioerosion, well Haversian Volkmann canal structure density 3D. In doing so able visualize invasion canals microbiota, has previously only been reported sections. Unlike conventional thin images shown here easy create interpret, even archaeologists inexperienced histology, readily facilitate illustration communication microtaphonomic effects. • Image reduced filters colormap renderings interpret histology. micro-taphonomic

3d Modeling and Semantic Classification of Archaeological Finds for Management and Visualization in 3d Archaeological Databases

The generation of digital 3D models of archaeological finds can be followed by further products, applications and studies such as a semantic classification in order to organize the digitally documented finds and provide connections between 3D models and databases. In this contribution we present a methodology developed to assist the superintendence of archaeological excavations or sites in the ...

3d Real Time Visualization for Support of Archaeological Analysis

Within the longterm research project Nasca/Palpa, which has been conducted at the group of photogrammetry and remote sensing of ETH Zurich since 1997, an archaeological GIS-database describing the famous ground drawings of the Palpa region and a wide variety of terrain data and orthoimages were produced at different levels in terms of accuracy and spatial resolution. In order to visualize these...

3D Puzzling of Archaeological Fragments

A major obstacle to the wider use of 3D object reconstruction and modeling is the extent of manual intervention needed to construct 3D models. Such interventions are currently massive and exist throughout every phase of a 3D reconstruction project: collection of images, image management, establishment of sensor position and image orientation, extracting the geometric detail describing an object...

Bone scan with incidental visualization of the entire colon

A 57-year-old male with history of prostatectomy, cyctectomy, cecal urinary diversion for invasive prostate cancer and with a recent rise in PSA level, was referred for bone scintigraphy to rule out osseous metastatic disease. An interesting finding was abnormal tracer accumulation throughout the large bowel, which was proved to be due to urinary diversion.

Collaborative Visualization of an Archaeological Excavation

We are developing a collaborative system for offsite visualization of an archaeological dig site through both virtual and augmented reality. Multiple users, wearing tracked, head-worn, see-through displays, can interact with the environment using tracked, instrumented gloves, a multi-user, multi-touch, projected table surface, large wall displays and tracked hand-held displays. We take advantag...
